My suspicions were confirmed by
Richard W. Bann and Leonard Maltin, co-authors of
OUR GANG: THE LIFE AND TIMES OF
THE LITTLE RASCALS
that this man was a total fraud.

The STATE THEATRE patrons who paid to see
an authentic OUR GANG member
were slickered.

Remembering FRED KIRBY

A number of words are often over-used these days. "Legend" and "icon" are two that come to mind quickly. For example, a baseball player hits a game-winning home run and before the day is over, someone says he's a "legend."

OK, if that ball player is a "legend" for being a hero that one day, what word or words would be appropriate to describe FRED KIRBY?

Fred's career as a singing cowboy lasted for more than fifty years. Around these parts, he is remembered for his years of service at WBT radio, television station WBTV and TWEETSIE RAILROAD in Blowing Rock, N.C.

Baby boomers grew up watching him every week on FRED KIRBY'S LITTLE RASCALS CLUB.

In addition to his above duties, Fred Kirby made hundreds, perhaps several thousand personal appearances at movie theatres all across both Carolinas.

Here is a sampling of Fred Kirby's theatre appearances in Salisbury, North Carolina.
This is not a complete list. There were others.
